The editorial policy of swishandnet defines the scope and standards for all published content. The site covers the game, the specific season in which it is played, and the resulting standings. This includes the sections for Leagues, Season, Teams, Players & movement, The game, News, College basketball, Watch and schedule, International, and History and records. It will not publish betting content, speculation on private lives, or any form of health, legal or financial advice presented as instructional. All quotes must be genuine and accurately attributed; invented statements have no place on the site.

Content is separated into reporting and reference material. Reference pages, such as those for a Team, Player, Season, or arena, present established, factual information in a neutral tone. Reporting, found in News and related sections, covers current events and developments. While analysis is permitted in reporting, it must be clearly distinguishable from verifiable fact. All reporting will be clearly dated.

When a claim cannot be independently verified from primary or trusted secondary sources, it will not be presented as fact. swishandnet will either omit the claim or, if relevant to the narrative, explicitly state its unverified status and origin. Rumour and hearsay are not published as news.

The treatment of images is strictly governed. A real photograph is always preferred and will carry a visible credit where one exists. Artistic illustrations or generic graphics may be used for thematic purposes, but the site will never publish a software-generated image depicting a real person's face, as this contradicts the commitment to factual representation.
