Lakers unveil bold 'Specter' alternate jersey for 2026-27

The Los Angeles Lakers will sport a bold new alternate uniform during the 2026-2027 NBA season. The team revealed its new 'Specter' jersey at a Nike event, showcasing a design that mixes purple, black, and yellow.

During the runway presentation, a model wore a jersey bearing Luka Dončić's number 77. The design features a purple and black colorway across the body, with the yellow 'Lakers' wordmark on the chest. Yellow also outlines the jersey numbers and trims the uniform.

Design Details and Homage

A notable design departure places the Nike logo in the center of the chest instead of its traditional spot on the right shoulder. The jersey also includes a blue and white stripe near the front shoulders. This stripe is seen as a likely homage to the franchise's earlier blue and yellow color scheme from its Minneapolis era.

The Specter jersey is part of a broader NBA initiative. On Wednesday, the league announced new Standard Issue Collection jerseys for every team, alongside the Specter Edition uniforms. The NBA stated these uniforms allow teams to trace their roots back to the earliest chapters of the league.

League and Nike executives framed the new collection as a fusion of sport and culture. According to the NBA's announcement, several other franchises will also debut these special edition jerseys.
